Although there are numerous coral reefs throughout the islands of Hawaii, Molokai is the only island that provides access to a barrier reef. While a coral reef and a barrier reef are both made of the skeletons of sea creatures, a barrier reef is unique because it runs parallel to the shore while still remaining separate from it. In order to visit the Molokai barrier reef, you will need to take a charter boat. Because of its remote location and limited visitors, it has remained unspoiled. Therefore, it is considered to provide some of the best diving in the world.
